- UFC 100: Results, Fight Card, Round By Round.
Undoubtedly, UFC 100 is the most awaited and most spectacular UFC event ever.
This will rock the world and this will be marked as the best of the best event if compared to all events and fight cards in the Ultimate Fighting Championship history.
UFC 100 is a sold out event for tonight, July 11 2009. The main event will be the second match-up between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir.
Brock Lesnar wants to retain his heavyweight championship title with the UFC and Frank Mir beat Lesnar at their last meeting and wants to get that belt from Lesnar. Lesnar weighed in at 265 and Mir weighed in at 245.
The fun thing about this fight is both guys have weaknesses that the other is easily capable of exploiting.
Lesnar has only been training mixed martial arts for a few years and there’s no way his jiu jitsu is even close to Frank Mir’s.
On the other hand Brock Lesnar hits harder than a truck, and Mir has never done well against guys who manage to whack him in the face a few times.
There’s a very easy way to boil this fight down: if it stays on the feet, Brock will win.
If it goes to the ground, that’s Frank’s domain … unless it goes to the ground because that’s where Brock’s fists send Mir.
One interesting factor in all this is whether Frank Mir has managed to get under the skin of Brock Lesnar.
Mir has spent the last three months talking smack about Lesnar and the former WWE star has been acting extra dour lately, walking out on interviews and press conferences.
Who knows if this is the real Brock or just pro wrestling style theatrics.
Dan Henderson also knocked out Michael Bisping with a single punch in a middleweight upset as the UFC rolled its odometer into triple digits on a landmark night for the proliferating sport.
Thousands of MMA fans packed the Mandalay Bay Events Center and the surrounding casinos for a weekend scheduled to finish with Brock Lesnar’s heavyweight title bout against Frank Mir.
St. Pierre (19-2), the Canadian star considered the UFC’s pound-for-pound best, was the superior fighter from the start, steadily punishing Alves (22-5) with punches, kicks and repeated takedowns.
