Tata Nano received over 203,000 fully paid bookings amounting to nearly Rs 2,500 crore

nanoThe Tata Nano received over 203,000 fully paid bookings amounting to nearly Rs 2,500 crore (Rs 25 billion), Tata Motors said on Monday.

The company said that 610,000 forms were purchased from the booking centres. Almost 70 per cent of the 203,000 bookings received were financed, while 30 per cent of the applicants booked in cash by paying fully.

The Tata Nano website recorded 30 million hits from the date of launch of the car to the closure of the booking period (25 April, 2009), nearly 1 million hits a day. About 1.4 million (14 lakh) people walked in to Tata Motors’ Showrooms, Croma and Westside stores across the country to view the car.

Out of the three variants of Nano, the base model Nano Standard accounted for 20 per cent, mid-range Nano Cx 30 per cent and the top end Nano Lx getting 50 percent of the booking.
