Subir Raha Died: Former ONGC Chief Subir Raha Passes Away

Former Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Chief Subir Raha died of cancer today, He was 62.

Subir Raha, who was last year diagnosed with lung cancer, was taken seriously ill about a week back and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in New Delhi, family and friends said.

Subir Raha died at around 03:22 PM.

A workaholic, Subir Raha is credited with taking ONGC where it is today the nation’s largest oil and gas producer.

He single hand managed Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s vertical incorporation by acquiring Mangalore Refinery (MRPL) and aggressively pursued overseas forays, unseen after his unceremonious exit.

Subir Raha concurrently served as Chairman of the wholly-owned subsidiary, ONGC Videsh (OVL) and was also responsible for the turnaround of the Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL) in 2003-2004.
