Sanjay Dutt on 50th Birthday: No mood for celebration, till Amar Singh recovers “Happy birthday to you,” will be enchanted but not in a crowd rather quietly somewhere at Capetown, South Africa.

Sanjay Dutt turns 50 today, great reason for merriment , but Sanju bhai will not be rocking until Amar Singh is back on his feet after his surgery in Singapore.

He says he can’t think of celebrations until his “brother” Amar Singh recovers.

The actor is presently in Cape Town, South Africa, shooting for Anil Kapoor’s home production No Problem directed by Anees Bazmee with Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor and Paresh Rawal.

His wife Manyata flew SA on July 22 to accompany him on the auspicious occasion and his sisters, Priya and Namrata, are too busy to fly to South Africa for Sanjay’s birthday.

Some of his close friends are already there for a small get together this evening.

He just can’t get over the fact that one more person close to him fell seriously ill. First it was his mother whom Sanjay lost at a young age. Then his first wife Richa Sharma went with shocking suddenness.

Sanjay’s father’s loss left him shattered all over again. Now when Amar Singhji fell ill, Sanjay felt almost guilty. He has begun to feel people close to him come to harm.

In his legendary career, he got to swim through many rocky layers. Dutt struggled with drug addiction while in high school and after the death of his mother in 1981.

He even underwent treatment for the same at a drug rehab program in Jackson, Mississippi in the United States which helped him considerably in kicking his drug habit.

Sanjay was arrested for illegally possessing arms purchased from gangsters involved in 1993 Mumbai bombings.

In fact, he’s still not been acquitted in the case and has to seek special permissions to travel abroad.

This year, he also decided to enter politics by joining the Samajwadi Party and was later appointed its general secretary. Though controversy followed him even there, Sanjay faced it with a smile.

When asked to make a birthday wish, Sanjay Dutt replied in just one word: “FREEDOM”.
