Pazhassi Raja: A movie based on Freedom struggle

- Malyalam Movie Pazhassi Raja based on Freedom struggle.
Pazhassi Raja, a biopic movie directed by T. Hariharan is all set to be release in this month.
“Pazhassi Raja, a historical drama depicting the life of one of the earliest freedom fighters from Kerala will bring back the memories of freedom struggle” says Mammootty who is playing the lead in the film.
Pazhassi Raja, will be released in five languages, including Hindi and English and features stalwarts like Mammoothy and Sarath Kumar.
The National award winning actor said, “The film will remind how we got freedom. He was a real warrior who faced personal losses by way of his unborn child, his throne, and palace (losing them). He was one of the initial freedom fighters of the nation who revolted against the British 50-odd years before the 1857 Sepoy mutiny.”
Resul Pukkuty Academy Award winner for Best Sound Mixing for the film Slumdog Millionaire says, “I got Pazhassi Raja when the shooting of the movie was complete. And like most movies in the south, Pazhassi Raja was shot entirely without music. It came as a challenge to create music for a movie that doesn’t belong to this era”.
Mammooty who is very excited for forthcoming historical epic says, “Of course, I’m really waiting for it because it is one Malayalam film which is likely to have a national release as it is dubbed in Hindi, Telegu and Tamil. Lot of hard work has gone into the film by each one associated with it.”
Written by M.T. Vasudevan Nair and directed by Hariharan, the film is set in the 18th century and is about Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja of the Padinjare Kovilakom of the Kottayam family. Peeved by the revenue policy of East India Company in Malabar, he threatened to cut down all the pepper vines if the British persisted in revenue collection.
Mammootty said, “Since I’m the hero of the film, I will certainly be involved in all sort of promotion of the film. This is the first Malayalam film which will have a national release and of course, I’m excited. But I’m certainly being apprehensive too, because too much expectation is not a good thing.”
Star Cast:
It stars Mammootty, Manoj K. Jayan, Thilakan, Padmapriya and Sarath Kumar in the lead roles with Kanika Subramaniam, Peter Handley Evans, Harry Key, and Jagathi Sreekumar in other crucial roles.
