On October 6, Verizon announced a strategic partnership with Google to sell Android phones, but they failed to announce any products.

It was widely believed that Motorola would provide the first Android phone for Verizon (who’s CEO Lowell McAdam was pictured with the secret device).

After an endless stream of leaks for the Motorola phone, Verizon has launched a teaser campaign for the first Android 2.0 device.

Boy Genius Report has been teasing the handset for the better part of the week, and now it’s giving us the full monty of the hardware, including its 5 megapixel autofocus camera on the back, and various Eclair-powered screens. Boy Genius himself notes that it’s the fastest Android device he’s used.

The Motorola Droid / Sholes used the same processor as iPhone 3GS and Palm Pre, the TI OMAP3430 CPU has made it one of the fastest Android devices to date, according to BGR.

The capacitive touch screen is good and “amazing”, and its hardware keyboard is usable although it might be revised on the final prototype.

The retail packaging of Droid will also include a docking station for convenient usb connection.

The following key features of the Motorola Droid are slowly rotated across the teaser site:

* Multitasking

* High speed

* Hi-res

* 5 megapixels

* Android 2.0

* Speech recognition

* Notification panel

* Directions

* Video

* Tunes

* 10,000+ apps
