Earth Hour 2010: Turn Off Lights for 60 Minutes; Now Time to Make a Change

Earth Hour started in 2007, in Sydney, Australia: 2.2 million people switched off their lights for one hour to send out a simple message: That they cared and were concerned about climate change.

In 2008, 50 million people around the world switched off their lights and, in 2009 an estimated 1 billion people joined this cause that sends out a strong message across the globe.

Earth Hour 2010 on this Saturday, 27th March, 2010 starting at 8:30pm your local time till 9:30 PM.

After last year, when people in more than 3,000 cities and 80+ countries switched off for Earth Hour 2009.

If you hate looking at buildings which have 100% of their lights on at nights with hardly a soul in them because of the sheer amount of electricity that goes waste, then you’ll probably like to be part of Earth Hour, organised by the WWF.

The high profile nature of Earth Hour is surely one of the reasons the WWF is now the world’s wealthiest environmental organization.

According to publicly-available figures compiled by Climate-Resistance.org, the World Wildlife Fund raised $3.1 billion in just six years (2003-2008). That’s half a billion dollars annually.

This year I’ll be joining those folks who are deliberately turning on all their lights during Earth Hour – to demonstrate that I am aware of Climate gate and consider it an important matter.
