Bajaj Auto is all set to re-enter the 100cc segment with the launch of the Bajaj Discover 100cc DTS-i Holy Grail on July 27, 2009.

The new 100cc Bajaj Discover motorcycle will be based on Bajaj Auto’s DTS-Si Holy Grail (Digital Twin Spark-Swirl induction) engine technology.

Bajaj Auto CEO (two-wheeler), S Sridhar said, “We are launching this 100 cc bike with DTS-Si Holy Grail.

This 100 cc bike will give a mileage of 80 km per litre and run for 100 km in a day.”

Bajaj Discover 100cc model would be launched later this month. It would take on Hero Honda which has products like Splendor and Passion in this segment.

Bajaj was previously planning to go out of the 100cc segment, which accounts for the maximum bike sales.

On the subject of the 100cc model of Discover, there are no definite reports as yet about the final price but it is probable to be priced around Rs. 42,000 ex-showroom, Delhi.

Bajaj intends to reach its target of selling 200,000 units each month of which it expects to sell 40,000 units of its new Discover 100cc model.

An entry level 100cc bike priced around Rs. 35,000 sells around 100,000 units each month in India.
