The countdown for the 10th Auto Expo to be held in New Delhi between Jan 05 and 11, 2010 has begun on an extremely optimistic note. The show which is expected to draw close to 2 million visitors, would make it the largest auto show in the world.
The focused theme of the expo will be ‘Green Environment’. The Tenth Edition of the Expo, riding on the feel good factor and strong growth in the domestic automotive sector, would be the biggest ever in terms of participation and footfalls, say the event organisers.
Japanese car giant Toyota on Thursday said it will display 14 production and concept vehicles, including its low-cost compact car, at the forthcoming Auto Expo in the Capital.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the joint venture between Toyota and Kirloskar Group, will start production of the compact car next December at its upcoming second plant in Bangalore.
It had also announced plans to showcase its Toyota Prius hybrid car in the biennial event in the national capital and is looking for its launch in the domestic market.
Exhibitors from the auto component industry have taken up 38,000 Sq.mtrs of space which is approximately 10 per cent more than the space taken by component manufacturers at the last Auto Expo. Some of the major component manufacturers from Germany, China, Japan, and Thailand are participating in the 10th Auto Expo. China and Germany have increased their space by 22 per cent and 18 respectively as compared to their previous participation at Auto Expo 2008, said Rajive Kaul, Chairman, Steering Committee of Auto Expo 2010.
Toyota has squeezed out costs wherever possible to make it price-competitive in India and has made it stand at par with Maruti Swift. Etios will be come with two engine options – a 1.4-liter diesel that powers the Yaris and a 1.2- or 1.3-liter gasoline unit. Toyota also has 1.3L petrol engine (K3 series) but has not made it clear whether it will be downsized to 1.2L to meet the small car regulation norms to save on excise duty.
Similar is the case with Honda Siel which is expected to display the small car that is meant for India. VW is in full swing after its deal of Porsche and is on the verge of launching its Polo compact in sedan version. General Motors India is to unveil its Beat while Ford India has Figo. The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India is waiting for the occasion to unveil its first complete indigenous small car slated for 2012.

Launch of new cycle in Auto Expo, cycle will only run when you push paddle, brake system will be available in cycle so that you can stop cycle before accident. ghanti is also available along with Seat
Ticket is very costly Adult Rs 2500 and child below 12 year cost 5000 bcoz it is very risky to visit Auto Expo with child due to huge crowd
